Terms and Conditions

a. Explanation of Fees

Application: There is a one-time, non-refundable $50 application fee.

Program Fee: All listed program fees include transportation to/from airport in host country; introductory orientation and materials; room and board (3 meals/day); tuition for language study and "mapping the gap" educational component; transportation within host country for planned trips; community service placement, supervision, orientation & materials; 8-10 guided excursions; international health insurance that covers basic medical, emergency medical evacuation, emergency reunion and more; and 24/7 local support. (This fee does NOT include airfare to/from host country). In addition, you will receive MTGI's comprehensive guidance and support - before, during and after - to plan a meaningful, safe and exciting gap year experience.

Excursions: MTGI provides quality excursions as a part of the student experience in the host country. If a student does not attend a given excursion for any reason, no refunds will be made for missed outings.

Reservation Deposit: Once we've processed your application, met or talked with you for an interview, and offered you admission, a $500 deposit is due to reserve a spot in a program. The deadline for Summer programs is April 23 (Italy) and 30 (Mexico and Nicaragua) ; Fall deadline is July 1; and Spring program deadline is November 1; however, programs fill on a first-come, first-served basis.

Program Fee Balance: The balance of the program fee is due no later than 45 days prior to departure. Your $500 deposit will secure a spot on a program until this date; if you are accepted but have not paid in full by 45 days prior to a program start, your name will be moved to a waitlist and participation is not guaranteed. Further, there will be a $100 late fee incurred on payments after the 45 day mark. No refunds will be issued for cancellation by the student after 45 days prior to the start of the program.

Mail application and all fees to:

126 Camp Workcoeman Rd

b. Code of Ethics

MTGI programs are designed to immerse students in other cultures and engage them in community service and learning.  The programs may include difficult and challenging experiences and MTGI expects participants to maintain a cooperative, flexible and attentive attitude.  MTGI further expects participants to be respectful of the cultures and communities they visit.  Appropriate dress, language and behavior are required and MTGI reserves the right to remove any participant from any program at any time without refund if the participant is found in violation of these requirements.

c. Cancellation Policy

MTGI reserves the right to cancel, alter, reschedule, or amend any or all programs offered at any time. If a program is cancelled by MTGI prior to departure, MTGI will refund all payments made by the applicant. If a program is cancelled by MTGI once it has begun, a portion of the applicantsÂ’ total payments will be refunded. Once you have accepted admission to a specific MTGI program, cancellation by you before 45 days prior to departure results in a refund of program fees minus the $50 application fee and the $500 reservation deposit. No refund will be given if you cancel your participation after 45 days prior to a program start.

d. Required Documents, Forms

Valid Passport & Visa: You must have a passport valid for at least six months AFTER the end of the program. Processing a passport can take six to ten weeks or longer. If you have a passport, check that it will be valid for the period in question. Please send your MTGI application even if you are waiting to receive a passport, but make sure we know you are obtaining one. For the Italy program, you are required to obtain a Student Visa from your local Italian consulate, for which you need to allow at least 8 weeks. We will provide you with information about obtaining a visa, but it is your responsibility to acquire the necessary passport and visa documents for international travel. For this reason we strongly recommend beginning the MTGI application and document procurement process as early as possible.

Medical Form: Once you've been offered a spot in an MTGI program, we'll send you a medical form for you and your doctor to complete.

We'll also be sending you some other forms to complete as part of your enrollment packet, including a contract of participation.
